What line of lawn products do you recommend?
August 14th, 2008
Jay P asked:
I just moved into a new house and the lawn is in decent shape. There are some weeds and rough spots, but all in all, the turf is looking good so far. I’d like to begin a regimen of a fertilizer and anti-weed product. What are your recommendations? Thanks.

I have used three different “brands” to get my grass dark green and weed free. I started with the company Trugreen and I did not notice any difference. I then tried Scott’s which I have been using ever since. I tried to save some money inbetween scotts applications and used a store brand, and it did absolutely nothing so it was more of a waste of my money. I use scotts about 4 times a year. My neighbors have dandelions weeds etc, and they come right up to the property line but don’t spread into my yard. Scotts turf builder step two has a weed solution in it that won’t kill your grass.

If you can find it, Greenview is an excellent brand.
I like to use organics when possible, consider ESPOMA Lawntone, and the use of Ironite.
Weed killers are a different thing… obviously less than organic. Ferti-lome makes a good line of weed killers for lawn and garden use.
I hope that this helps
