I’m a first time home owner. My house is in Southern California and it gets hot in the summer so i was watering my lawn every day. Now that it’s winter i only water every other day, but my lawn seems to be more yellow than everyone else’s in the neighborhood. Am i watering too much?

I would say you are overwatering.
I lived in LA and we occasionally got a little rain in the winter.
During the summer I watered well about once a week. In the winter I watered about half as long once every two weeks.
Our lawn was Bermuda and Dichondera (Spell?)

yes because the snow is mainly water so you shouldn;t water not every day every other day like every week or month

There is no need to water your lawn in the winter. Cooler temperatures generally cause grass to go dormant and stop active growth until the spring and summer months. The nightly dew should me sufficient moisture for a dormant lawn. Quite often people think a yellow or pale lawn is dead when it is actually in dormancy for the winter. It will come back..you’ll want to water it about twice a week when heavy growth occurs later in the spring. Too much water can be a problem for the roots, and it’s really a waste of a precious resource.

Actualy you do need a little water in winter, only enough to keep the roots from drying out, but never enough to make it stand. Roots need water in the winter, because that is when they do the majority of their growing. You could also have some other problem.
