How do I keep rabbits from destroying my lawn?

November 29th, 2008

stashley88 asked:

I have already accepted that my backyard lawn is a loss (with 3 large dogs). So, I work really hard and have a nice front lawn. The only thing is, our lawn is one of the only ones that is green on my street, so all the rabbits eat it! Anything I can do?
They are destroying it. There are spaces where they have been eating. I know. It’s my lawn! And my dogs are aggressive. They cannot be in contact with strangers. Im not asking for some animal rights answer. I want them gone!

nah unless u trap them and relocate them…but i suggest u leave them alone…they could have a burrow with babies in it somewhere…remember…your in their territory…animals were there first and at least deserve to eat some grass…they seriously dont hurt it that bad they mainly just **** and the **** wont hurt your yard…i have tons of rabbits in my back yard…and they have never harmed it in anyway…

if all they do is eat the grass then whatis the harm?
You could let the dogs waunder the front and that would keep them off

You can spray “Hinder” on the grass. It’s some kind of urea and won’t hurt anything. I spray it on my trees to keep deer away. It really works. Rabbits are on the label too. The urea in the product smells like ammonia in the container but you can’t smell it when you spray it. The grass will get even greener too because the urea is nitrogen. The grass will love it.

Well, they’re hungry.

Animals will always go to the easiest food source. Maybe if you put out grain corn or rabbit food, they might go for that rather than your grass.

Cat litter box contents scattered about is a possibility. Or, in flower beds, moth balls might work.

Rabbit stew might also be a solution.

I say, get a cat! Mine have always been great at keeping the rabbits out of my yard!

You can plant something that they don’t like, and if all else, you can poison them.
