Feed and fertilize it. Water it every day for a month, and it should get back to normal.

I live in Florida with the same kind of conditions you mentioned, and what I mentioned for you to do works for us.

Water it every single day. If you don’t, it’ll die. I suggest getting a fertilizer, Vigoro makes a fertilizer specially for hotter areas.

the best way is to airate the roots !
so you’ll need a forked spade and a good amount of manure !
(this is also great if you have a mound you want to get rid of and not dig it-up and move )
1-st you water and saturate
2nd-spread the manure (thinly )over the lawn area
3rd-water again
4th-start at the thickest part of the greener lawn and lead the root’s to the dry area !
5th-water
6th-sprinkle more manure (thin again ) and water
7th-rake all dead veg. off top soil
by the 8th day you should see some new growth
so give it 3-days to start a healthy root
and do the uprooting again only do it across the first direction !
you’ll be amazed at how fast it’ll grow back
by the way don’t cut it untill it seed’s then just rake and water !
the manure gives off heat when wet and exposed to sunlight which in turn gives a hothouse effect which produces the root growth when it’s exposed !

put weed and feed or any fertilizer with high nitrogen in it…..be VERY careful you don’t over fertilize, or else you will kill it. if you are in doubt, use LESS.
Water it a lot…its raining a lot here now in SE michigan, and the lawn is a lush green.
If where you live it does not freeze in the winter rent a power aerator, or buy a $20 aerator stick at home depot, and pop holes all over the lawn before you fertilize….
About a month after you fertilize, spread seed everywehre.
use any ol cheap seed, they are all good
